Together, Keycentrix and The Bruce G. Cochener Foundation are offering a boost to future technologists.
The Keycentrix/Bruce G. Cochener Scholarship in Technology will be awarded annually to Wichita State University juniors and seniors seeking careers in information-technology-related fields. The scholarship was developed to honor the legacy of Keycentrix Founder Bruce Garvey Cochener, who had a love for both technology and education.
The scholarship is specifically designed to help students nearing the completion of their degree programs successfully cross the finish line.
Technology in Kansas
Kansas has a much larger potential for tech industry growth than most realize. According to data gathered by FlagshipKansas.Tech, there are currently more than 350 technology-oriented companies in the Wichita area alone, with much more room to expand from there. Part of that growth will require cultivating tech talent and keeping a talent pool alive within the region.
At Keycentrix, we believe the Wichita community and the State of Kansas will benefit greatly from making every effort to develop and retain the next generation of technology professionals. When we support these students, we’re securing a better future for them as well as our city and our state.
Surprising a Senior
Wichita State senior Chloe Ordonez will be the first recipient of the award. Chloe will obtain a degree in Management Information Systems in 2021.
Wichita State University technology faculty joined our president, Luis Rodriguez, to announce the scholarship to Chloe via a surprise Zoom video call. You can view the announcement as it happened by clicking on the video screen below.
The scholarship was established through the Wichita State University Foundation. Recommendations for scholarship recipients will come from the Wichita State University W. Frank Barton School of Business. Students interested in learning more about an education in technology can visit wichita.edu/business or call (316) 978-3456.
